Resident Evil Series

Synopsis

In this sequel to Resident Evil, the genetically made zombies are back and it's up to two new heroes to stop them. Leon S. Kennedy picked a bad day to join the Raccoon Police Department. He finds the town of Raccoon City crawling with zombies. Along the way, he meets Claire Redfield (the sister of Chris Redfield from the first game). Claire has come to the town to find Chris. Leon and Claire decide to separate and search for survivors on their way to the police station. Along the way, they meet some interesting characters. Leon meets Ada Wong, a mysterious woman who doesn't like talking about what she is up to; Claire meets Sherry Birkin, a troubled little girl searching for her parents. The game comes on two separate disks to follow the separate adventures of Leon and Claire.

trivia facts

'Redrum' is painted on a wall in blood in the police station.

Robert Kendo, the gun shop owner, is a good friend of Barry Burton, a character from the first game.

If you check Wesker's desk in the S.T.A.R.S office 50 times you will find a roll of film that can be developed in the dark room. It is a picture of Rebecca Chambers from the Bravo Team.

In a B game, a report can be found in Rebecca's desk that details the events of Resident Evil 0 (released several years later). This however is not for all versions, this was stated in a file available in only the Nintendo 64 version of the game.

Leon crashes the police car next to the Arukas Tailor. "Arukas" spelled backwards is "Sakura", a character in another Capcom game, Street Fighter Alpha 2.

After the tanker crashes into the police car during the opening cinematic, a "No Trucks" sign can be seen among the burning truck wreckage.

As Claire Redfield drives the motorcycle on the highway, the sign saying "Welcome to Raccoon City" has the words "Raccoon City" typed in a Gamefan font, the title font used by the cancelled magazine company Gamefan.

You can unlock special costumes if you do the following. Start the game in Normal Mode with any characters, don't pick up any items until you reach the Police Station courtyard. Go to the underground passage way to fight the zombie Brad Vickers, then you get the Locker Key from his corpse. Brad Vickers will only appear if you do not pick up anything before you reach here. Use the key to unlock the cabinet in Dark Room. You get new costumes and weapons for Leon and Claire.

You can unlock hidden characters Hunk and Tofu only after you have got an A score in the game and beaten the normal game 4 times to receive Hunk and another four more times to receive Tofu.

The wounded cop you encounter early on in the police station is sitting against a locker with the name "JoJo" on it, a reference to Capcom's earlier JoJo's Bizarre Adventure game.

The first Resident Evil to give a final grade after the game's completion. Resident Evil 1 never gave a grade after you beat it.

Is being remade and will be called Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, and will be played just like The Umbrella Chronicles will be, but as a fully remastered remake of Resident Evil 2. Expected release by the end of 2009 or early 2010.

During the end boss battle, Ada Wong suddenly appears and throws a rocket launcher weapon that can be used to kill the boss. The same thing happens at the end of Resident Evil 4.

mistakes

When Leon or Claire encounters the Licker in the hallway, the body of the decapitated cop disappears from the background also the door on the left (If facing the character when the Licker appears) is also missing.  Plus the floor is much cleaner.

In the Claire A Scenario Claire sees Leon on the security monitor and Leon isn't bandaged from the gunshot wound he received from Annette,

At the near end of the A scenario in the final boss fight, the word "ELEVATER" on the floor is misspelled. It's suppose to have an "O-R" at the end of the word.  Please pardon that the "E-L" in the picture is not present, but in the game, it's still there.

There's a part where your playing character hears a window crashing and zombies pour in after entering the library. But from the distance between the library and either of the two hallways where the zombies crash the window, you wouldn't be able to hear a window crash at all.

Sherry is discovered in a room behind the chief's office, but before she got there, a helicopter crashes in a hallway blocking the only doorway to that wing of the RPD. So Sherry shouldn't of been able to get to that one room with the helicopter wreckage blocking the only way there.

1. Chief's Diary

September 23rd
It's all over. Those imbeciles from Umbrella have finally done it... Despite all their promises, they've ruined my town. Soon the streets will be infested with zombies. I'm beginning to think that I may even be infected myself. I'll kill everyone in town if this turns out to be true!

September 24th
I was successful in spreading confusion among the police as planned. I've made sure that no one from the outside will come to help.

With the delays in police actions, no one will have the chance to escape my city alive. I've seen to it personally that all escape routes from inside the precinct have been cut off as well.

There are several survivors still attempting to escape through the lower levels, but I'll make sure no one gets out.

September 26th
I've had a change of heart about the remaining survivors inside the precinct. I've decided to hunt them down myself.

I shot Ed in the back through the heart less than an hour ago. I watched him writhe in pain upon the floor in a pool of his own blood. The expression on his face was positively exquisite. He died with his eyes wide open, staring up at me. It was beautiful.

I wonder if the mayor's daughter is still alive? I let her escape so I could enjoy hunting her down later...

I'm going to enjoy my new trophy. Yes, frozen forever in the pose I choose to give her.

2. Chris's Diary

August 8th

I talked to the chief today once again, but he refused to listen to me. I know for certain that Umbrella conducted T-virus research in that mansion. Anyone infected turns into a zombie. But the entire mansion went up in that explosion; along with any incriminating evidence.

Since Umbrella employs so many people in town, no one is willing to talk about the incident. It looks like I am running out of options.

August 17th

We've been receiving a lot of local reports about strange monsters appearing at random throughout the city. This must be the work of Umbrella.

August 24th

With the help of Jill and Barry, I finally obtained information vital to this case. Umbrella has begun research on the new G-virus, a variation of the original T-virus. Haven't they done enough damage already?!

We talked it over, and have decided to fly to the main Umbrella HQ in Europe. I won't tell my sister about this trip as doing so could put her life in danger.

Please forgive me Claire.

3. Federal Police Report (Mail To Chris)

FEDERAL POLICE DEPT. - INTERNAL INVESTIGATION REPORT

Mr. Chris Redfield
Raccoon City Police Dept.
S.T.A.R.S. Division

As per your request, we have conducted our internal investigation and discovered the following information:

1) Regarding the G-virus currently under development by Umbrella Inc.

So far it is unconfirmed that the G-virus even exists. We're continuing with our investigation.

2) Regarding Mr. Brian Irons, Chief of the Raccoon City Police Dept.

Mr. Irons has allegedly received a large sum of funds in bribes from Umbrella Inc. over the last five years. He was apparently involved in the cover up of the mansion lab case along with several other incidents in which Umbrella appears to have direct involvement.

Mr. Irons had been arrested under suspicion of rape on two separate counts during his years as a university student. He underwent psychiatric evaluation as a result of the charges but was released due to circumstantial evidence as well as his phenomenal academic standing.

As such, extreme caution is advised when dealing with him.

8. G-Virus Antigen

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SYNTHESIS OF THE G-VIRUS ANTIGEN: G-VACCINE, CODE NAMED "DEVIL"

Any beings infected by the G-Virus will reproduce through impregnation of an embryo within another living being.

Unless rejected by the host, the embryo will undertake a process of gradual cellular invasion, infecting the host's cells on a molecular level as it rewrites their DNA.

Once the metamorphosis is complete, the host will be capable of continuing this cycle of self-replication. The duration of time for the process to run its course will vary from subject to subject.

In the early stages of cellular invasion, it is possible to halt progression of the metamorphosis through the administration of the G-Vaccine antigen.

The following procedure details its synthesis.

The vaccine creation requires the base vaccine. This can be arranged by the activator VAM. First set the empty cartridge to the VAM and activate it. After several moments the process will be complete and the white-colored base vaccine will be set in the cartridge automatically. Then confirm the green light is on, remove the cartridge, and proceed to the next step.

Once the base vaccine has been prepared, set it in the vaccine synthesis machine located in the P-4 level experimental room.

The machine is fully automated and only requires the user to push the sequence start switch. At this point, the program will run automatically and synthesis will be complete within approximately 10 seconds.

As the synthesis of DEVIL is an extremely delicate process, the quality will vary with slight shocks or changes in temperature. Careful handling is required for the proper results.

File location: You can get file this from Annette during the Claire A Game after Birkin attacks her in the Umbrella Lab B5 hallway.

9. Hint Files

HINT FILES FOR THE ROOKIE MODE

A statue of a woman bearing a water vessel. There's an inscription and a hole on the pedestal...

The statue holding a red jewel... The two statues against each wall appear to have been moved before. Police staff have been told not to move either unless necessary.

The water tank on the roof. The tank ruptured on one occasion where the regulator valve was tightened too much. The valve handle was removed after the accident.

The door that has been destroyed by the helicopter. The only way to open the sealed door is with explosives. There is a report that recently confiscated explosives have been stored on the premises.

A picture in the chief's room. Word around the campfire is that there is a reason why the chief collects all these morose pictures as a hobby. He supposedly becomes furious if anyone touches them. He's even erupted at the cleaning staff.

A gas light in the press room. The main fire must be lit before turning on the gas lights. Turn them on in the correct order or they'll go out.

Clock tower. The ladder must be lowered to gain access to the upper level. The clock has not been functioning since one of the gears was lost.

Sewage disposal plant door. The lock device is supposedly shaped like a chess board because the manager loves chess obsessively.

A waterfall blocking the sewer. The water flow must be blocked to allow access to the other side of the waterfall. The small device on the wall off to the side is probably the key...

The ventilation fan and mobile bridge in the sewer. Both devices are operated with the use of special handles that are usually detached.

The train turn table at the factory site. The control panel for the turn table is set on the turn table itself. A custom key is required to activate it. Access is strictly prohibited.

Restoring the power to the lab. The shutter can't be opened unless the breaker system has been restored. The fuse consists of super conductive materials that can withstand high electrical output and must operate at extremely low temperatures. An insulated case is required during it's transport. Low temperature conditions must be maintained during their installation.

How to use the computer in the lab. When typing the letter "A" move the cursor to "A" and then push the action button. When typing multiple letters move the cursor over "*" and then push the action button.

Vaccine synthesis. Vaccine synthesis is a delicate process. Find the "cartridge" containing the vaccine precursor components and create the "base vaccine" using the activator -VAM-. Place this into the synthesis machine in the lab to prepare the completed vaccine.

Elevator loading to the transport facility on the bottom floor. The transport facility and lab are connected by a large elevator lift located at the warehouse. It can be reached from the passageway to the south of the control room [downward on the map]. A key is needed to open the shutter.

Transport train on the bottom floor of the lab. The emergency power has not been activated. The high output generator will require the appropriate plug before it can be operated. The tunnel gate can't be raised until power has been supplied.

10. Lab Security Manual

- Security measures in case of an emergency -

In the instance of an uncontainable bio-hazardous breakout, all security measures will be directed toward the underground transport facility.

In the instance that any abnormalities are detected among cargo in transit, all materials will automatically be transported from the loading zone to the designated high-speed train. At which point, all materials will be isolated and disposed of immediately.

In the instance of a Class 1 emergency, the entire train will be purged and disposed of without delay.

In the instance that the lab itself becomes contaminated, the northern most route currently used to transport materials to and from the facility will be designated as the emergency escape route. This route will secure passage to the relay point outside the city limits.

Disclosure about any information regarding research conducted here, or the existence of this facility, is strictly prohibited.

Since it is top priority to keep all research classified, escape access may be denied under certain extenuating circumstances.

File location: You'll find this file on the desk with the computer on the workers quarters on the western side of the Umbrella Lab B4.

11. Mail To The Chief

To: Mr. Brian Irons, Chief of the Raccoon City Police Dept.

We have lost the mansion lab facility due to the actions of the renegade operative, Albert Wesker.

Fortunately, his interference will have no lasting effects upon our continued virus research.

Our only present concern is the presence of the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members: Redfield, Valentine, Burton, Chambers, and Vickers.

If it comes to light that the S.T.A.R.S. have any evidence as to the activities of our research, dispose of them in such a matter that would appear to be purely accidental.

Continue to monitor their progress and make certain their knowledge does not go public.

Annette will continue to be your contact through out this affair.

William Birkin

To: Mr. Brian Irons, Chief of the Raccoon City Police Dept.

I have deposited the amount of US $10,000 to the account for you services this term as per our agreement.

This development of the G-Virus scheduled to replace the T-Virus, is near completion. Once completed, I am certain that I will be appointed to be a member of the executive board for Umbrella Inc. It is imperative that we proceed with extreme caution. Redfield and the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members are still attempting to uncover information on the project. Continue to monitor their activities and block all attempts to investigate the underground research facilities.

William Birkin

To: Mr. Brian Irons, Chief of the Raccoon City Police Dept.

We have a problem. I have received information informing me that Umbrella HQ has sent spies to recover my research on the G-Virus. There are an unknown number of agents involved. They must not be allowed to take this project away from me as it represents my entire life's work. Search the city thoroughly for any suspicious persons. Detain any such individuals by whatever means deemed necessary and contact me immediately through Annette.

With these precautions, any possible threat should be eliminated.

I will not allow anyone to steal my work on the G-Virus.

Not even Umbrella...

William Birkin

13. Operation Manual 1

September 26th
The Raccoon Police Dept. was unexpectedly attacked by zombies. Many have been injured, even more were killed. During the attack, our communications equipment was destroyed and we no longer have contact with the outside world. We have decided to carry out an operation with intent of rescuing any possible survivors as well as to prevent this disaster from spreading beyond Raccoon City. The details of the operation are as follows:

Security of armaments and ammunition. Chief Irons has voiced concern regarding the issue of terrorism due to a series of recent unresolved incidents.  On the very day before the zombie attack, he made the decision to relocate all weapons to scattered intervals throughout the building as a temporary measure to prevent their possible seizure. Unfortunately, this decision has made it extremely difficult to locate all ammunition caches. It has become our top priority to recover these scattered munitions.

To unlock the weapon storage. As stated earlier, it will be extremely difficult to secure all the ammunition. However, a considerable supply still remains in the underground weapon storage. Unfortunately, the person in charge of the card key used to access the weapon storage is missing and we have been unable to locate the key. One of the breakers went down during the battle and the electronic locks are not functioning in certain areas. It has become first priority to restore the power in the power room and secure those locks.

Recorder: David Ford

September 27th
1:00 PM.  The west barricade has been broken through and another exchange ensued. We sheltered the injured in the confiscation room on the first floor temporarily. 12 more people were injured in the battle.

Recorder: David Ford

-Additional Report-
Three additional people were killed following the sudden appearance of a yet unknown creature. This creature is identified by missing patches of skin, and razor-like claws. However, its most distinguishing characteristic is its lance-like tongue, capable of piercing a human torso in an instant. Their numbers as well as their locations remain unknown. We have tentatively named this creature the "licker" and are currently in the process of developing counter-measures to deal with this new threat.

File location: You will find this item on the table in the Operations Meeting Room on the west side of the R.P.D.'s 1st Floor.

14. Operation Manual 2

- Operation Report -

September 28th

Early morning 2:30 AM. Zombies overran the operation room and another battle broke out. We lost 4 more people, including David.

We're down to 4 people, including myself. We failed to secure the weapons cache and hope for our survival continues to diminish. We won't last much longer...

We agreed upon a plan to escape through the sewer. There's a path leading from the precinct underground to the sewage disposal plant. We should be able to access the sewers through there. The only drawback is that there is no guarantee the sewer disposal plant is free of any possible dangers.

We know our chances in the sewer are slim, but anything is better than simply waiting here to die.

In order to buy more time, we locked the only door leading to the underground, which is located in the eastern office. We left the key behind in the western office since its unlikely that any of those creatures have the intelligence to find it and unlock the door.

I pray that this operation report will be helpful to whoever may find it.

15. P-Epsilion Gas Report

INVESTIGATIVE REPORT ON P-EPSILON GAS
- This report demands immediate attention -

The P-Epsilon gas has been proven capable of incapacitating all known B.O.W.s (Bio Organic Weapon(s)). As such, it has been designated for emergency usage in the event of B.O.W. escape.

Reports based upon data collected during prior incidents indicate the potential for negative side effects.

The P-epsilon gas has been proven to weaken B.O.W.s' cellular functions. However, prolonged or repeated exposures will result in the creation of adaptive antibodies to the agent.

Furthermore, some species have been observed to absorb the P-epsilon gas as a source of nutrition and use the toxins extracted against anything perceived as a threat.

Use of the P-epsilon gas should be severely limited to extreme cases only.

We strongly request the authority to re-evaluate the P-epsilon gas deployment system. We would like this reevaluation to take place immediately.

16. Patrol Report

September 20th 9:30 PM

Reporter: Sgt. Neil Carlsen
-Patrol Report-
We received a report of a suspicious individual skulking around the sewers in the outskirts of Raccoon City. I searched the area and located the individual, but he ran away before I was able to question him.

I recovered the following items:

  • As small amount of C4 plastic explosive.
  • An electronic detonator.
  • 9x19 parabellum rounds.
  • infrared scope (broken).

End of report.

18. Secretary's Diary A

April 6th
I accidentally moved one of the stone statues on the second floor when I leaned against it. When the chief found out about it, he was furious. I swear the guy nearly bit my head off, screaming at me never to touch the statue again. If it's so important, then maybe he shouldn't have put it out in the open like that....

April 7th
I heard that all the art piece's of the chief's collection are rare items, literally worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. I don't know which is the bigger mystery: where he finds those tacky things, or where he's getting the money to pay for them.

May 10th
I wasn't surprised to see the chief to come in today with yet another large picture frame in his hands. This time it was really disturbing painting depicting a nude person being hanged. I was appalled by the expression on the chief's face as he leered at that painting.

Why anyone would consider something like that to be a work of art is beyond my comprehension...

File location: You'll find this on the desk of the Upstairs Waiting Room on the Eastern side of the R.P.D.'s 2nd Floor.

19. Secretary's Diary B

June 8th
As I was straightening up the chief's room, he burst through the door with a furious look his face. It's only been 2 months since I've started working here, but that's the second time I've seen him like this.

The last time was when I bumped into that statue, only this time he looked even more agitated than ever. I seriously thought for a moment that he was going to hurt me.

June 10th
The chief has been locked inside his room for the past two days. He won't come out for any reason and people are beginning to spread rumors.

June 15th
I discovered what the chief has been hiding all along... If he finds out that I know, my life will be in serious danger. It's getting late already. I'm just going to have to take this one day at a time...

File location: You'll find this file on the table in the Art Gallery on the eastern side of the R.P.D.'s 2nd Floor - this is where you find Sherry in Claire's games.

20. Sewer Manager's Diary

June 28th
It's been a while, but I saw Don today and we talked after completing our work. He told me he had been sick in bed until yesterday.

It really doesn't come as much of a surprise given how long he's been working here.

He was sweating like a horse and kept scratching his body while we were talking. I asked if he was hot, but he just looked at me funny. What's wrong with him anyway?

July 7th
Chief Irons has been visiting the lab often lately. I don't know what he's doing over there but he always looks grim.

The expression on her face has been even more unsettling than usual...

My guess is that it's because of Dr. Birkin's impossible requests. The chief has my sympathies though. After all he's done for the town, he doesn't deserve this.

July 21st
I rarely drink because I'm on the grave yard shift, but don't suppose I have much to complain about since this is how I make my living.

I saw this new guy working at the lab today. He was tall, skinny and well dressed. His annual bonus is probably bigger than my salary.

The world ain't fair...

August 16th
Chief Irons came in late today, looking grimmer than his usual self. I tried to joke with him to cheer him up but he wasn't amused. He pulled out his gun and threatened to shoot me! I was able to calm him down, but that guy must have some serious problems. He knows he can't enter the lab without my help and medal.

This is what it means for the chief "to serve and protect"!?

August 21st
William informed me that the police and media have begun their investigation on Umbrella's affairs. He said that the investigation will be citywide and that there is a possibility that they'll even search through the sewers. He asked me to suspend all Umbrella sewer facility operations until the investigation has concluded.

The sewer will still be used for passage, but he stressed that I have to be extremely cautious and that I'd lose my job if anyone finds out about this operation.

- User list of the Connecting Facility -

On the first and third Wednesdays of the month, Angelica Margaret, chief of maintenance, will make use of the facilities. Be sure to reduce the moisture levels in the facility by activating the fan, as the equipment she will be using is susceptible to the effects of water vapor.

On the 28th every month, the chemical transporter Don Weller will use the facility. The chemicals he will be transporting are extremely volatile. Extreme caution should be observed throughout their transport.

On the 6th and 16th of every month, police chief Brian Irons will visit the facility to attend regular meetings that take place in the lab.

On the fourth Friday of every other month, William Birkin will use the facility to conduct a training seminar for the Chicago branch of Umbrella Inc. As the probability of an attack upon Dr. Birkin will be high, take every measure conceivable to guard his life.

You will be informed of all other potential visitors and the time they will arrive as needed. Guide these individuals to their destination safely. We expect nothing but the best from you.

23. Watchman's Diary

August 11th
I finally had the chance to see blue skies for the first time in ages, but it did little to lift my spirits. I was reprimanded by the chief for neglecting my duties while I was up on the clock tower.

There's only one thing I still don't understand: the chief seemed to be more concerned about the fact that I was up on the tower rather than I was neglecting my duties. Why was access to the tower prohibited in the first place anyway?

September 5th
I recently talked to the old man who works in the scrap yard out back. His name is Thomas. He's a quiet man and really seems to enjoy chess. He even went so far as to design a special key and lock engraved with chess pieces on them for one of the doors in the disposal yard.

We made plans to play chess tomorrow night. I can't help but wonder how good he is. One thing that's been bothering me about him is the way that he's always scratching himself... Does he have some sort of skin disease or is he just rude?

September 9th
Thomas was a much better player than I had imagined. I used to think of myself as a fairly decent player, but he did a pretty good job of humbling me.

About the only thing I imagine that could match his skills in chess is his appetite. All the guy did was talk about food throughout the entire game. He sounded fairly healthy, but he didn't look quite right...

I wonder if he's okay.

September 12th
I was supposed to play another game of chess with Thomas, but we had to cancel it because he hasn't been feeling to well.

He stopped by to see me, but I told him to go back and rest since he literally looked like the living dead.

He insisted that he was just fine, but I could tell he was really having problems.

Come to think of it, I haven't been feeling to good myself lately...

1 Robert's Note

How could this have happened, Barry? The town's been overrun by zombies and has literally become a nightmare on Earth.

As you know, my concern for the town is as great as your own. I have waited for your arrival on the assumption you were still in the area, but the threat of my shop being overwhelmed by zombies has become too great.

I've already distributed the majority of weapons and ammo to the town's survivors including the Raging Bull you special ordered. I hope you understand, given the circumstances.

At any rate, I have no intention of pointlessly sacrificing my life and will be retreating to Stone Ville.

If you get this message, meet me there. We'll go fishing...

2 Jill's Note

It all began as an ordinary day in September. An ordinary day in Raccoon City. A city controlled by Umbrella.

No one dared to oppose them. That and the lack of strength would ultimately lead to their destruction.

I suppose they had to suffer the consequences of their actions but there would be no forgiveness. If only they had had the courage to fight...

But it's true that once the wheels of justice began to turn, nothing could stop them. Nothing.

It was Raccoon City's last chance... And my last chance, my last escape...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3 Jill's Report

July 24th, 1998

Raccoon Forest:

The following documents were obtained at a sanitarium owned by Umbrella Corp.:

"Umbrella Bio Organic Weapon Publicity Material"
Dev. Code: MA-39 Cerberus
Dev. Code: MA-121 Hunter
Dev. Code: Fi-3 Neptune
Dev. Code: T-002 Tyrant

In addition to the above, it is believed that several other B.O.W. were created by means of accidental infection.

During the course of the tests, it was discovered that the contagion is not limited to human beings, and may pose a hazardous risk to plant and animal life forms.

Effective means of controlling this contagion have yet to be found.

4 Journalist's Note

As I write this, my hands shake with anger and fear. The civilians of this town have been blockaded by the military. And though I sigh for the survivors of the town, I still feel that it's the best decision. They cannot take the chance of the disease spreading any further.

I am going to make it my top priority to discover what has caused this incredibly dangerous incident. So far, I have only found out that the disease is not airborne.

5 Operation Instructions

Orders for Special Agent Hunk are as follows:

Penetrate Umbrella research facility located outside of Raccoon city.
Recover G-virus sample from Dr. William Birkin.

You are authorized to use any means necessary to secure this sample.

Upon recovery, sample is to be delivered to Loire Village.
Failure on this mission is not an option.

6 Operation Instructions

September 1st

Following six months of intensive training, my body's edge had returned.

I was a good soldier, but they ordered my execution with no reason given. I was tortured and forced to give a false confession.

But on the morning of my execution, a miracle happened. The company had helped me out, giving me a second lease on life.

September 15th

I ended my vacation short and returned to the HQ office. It looks like my UBCS unit's been called into action.

Umbrella maintains its own paramilitary unit to counter corporate terrorism and V.I.P. abduction. In addition, they have nightmen who specialize in handling problems caused by
illegal products.

I'm currently a member of the latter.

September 28th

Dawn's here, but we're still slogging through this nightmare. There are no provisions of any kind here. The undead walk the streets feeding upon the flesh of the living.

Given the choice again, I would rather have been executed.
Death row was a heavenly asylum compared to this place.

I've chosen to pull the trigger myself, in the hope that my dead body won't come back to life.

7 Brad's Note

No!!

It's that monster in the black suit again! Why does that thing keep chasing me?! What did I do? This must be someone's sick idea of a joke.

If I knew things were going to end up like this, I would have left the S.T.A.R.S. team a long time ago.

But whining won't help me now. I know I'm finished...

Oh... In my hometown Delucia, I bet the flowers are in bloom.
If I could only see them once more before I die...

9 MA-121 Progress Report

As a result of the scheduled product improvement plans for the MA120, productions of the latest multi Purpose B.O.W. MA121-Hunter has been completed.

Although the Hunter has demonstrated high performance exceeding expectations as a B.O.W., in the interest of producing improved products with higher levels of usability and enhanced power, Hunter-R and additional enhanced B.O.W.s are currently under development.

There should be no shortage of practical applications for current products under development.

10 Dario's Note

I can't help but wonder if anyone will read these words, but writing them will help me maintain my sanity if nothing else.

After I've become a meal for those undead monsters, will the G.I.s responsible for sealing off the town laugh upon discovering my corpse?

So is this how it's supposed to end? I don't want to die. I'm just not ready...

My wife, daughter, mother...
My entire family has been killed. But none of that matters anymore. Right now, my life is the only important thing.
That's all that matters.

I never would have pictured my end to be like this. I had so much left to do. Rather than becoming a salesman, I should have tried my hand at being a novelist. It's what I've always wanted, but my mother would only tell me you have a long way to go.

Why did I ever listen to her?

But this looks like the end for the great Dario Rosso, novelist extraordinare. Cut down before his prime...

11 Umbrella Memo

Dear Dr. Birkin,

It has come to my attention that we are currently experiencing a shortage of APL-14. To counteract this problem I am asking you and several other labs to donate five cases of APL-14 to our facility immediately.

For your information, we have discovered, that our base in the South Pole is primarily responsible for this shortage.

We are currently taking steps to prevent this from happening in the future. And don't worry, the Ashford's reputation is now irreparably tarnished.

Your quick response is greatly appreciated.

13 David's Letter

My sanity is at its end... I still can't believe this is happening. We lost another man yesterday. Meyer; one of our better marksmen. He saw me panic once we were overrun by the zombies but he came back to save me.

But when the time came to return the debt, I ran.

I can still hear him calling out my name. I can still hear the screams coming from behind. The sound of his flesh being stripped from its bones. I was afraid... terrified...

It's the 27th. The fight to stay alive continues. I took out several zombies who managed to break through the barricades. Now I'm cutting through the chill with whisky, unloading my
Mossberg on anything undead. That shotgun's become a close friend of mine. I've blasted many a zombie into fertilizer with it.

We've lost 12 men as of yesterday. In 3 hours, we'll bicker about trivial things in the meeting room. It's a total waste of time. When I finish this bottle, my old friend Mossberg will be turning one last body into fertilizer.

Peace at last.
I can hardly wait...

14 Rebecca's Report

On July 23rd, an MP vehicle was found inside the Arklay Mountains. Corpses of MP members and an unidentified body were found near the vehicle.

According to the information from military authorities, the unidentified body was identified as former ensign Billy Koen, who was sentenced the death penalty following a court-martial on July 22nd. While Koen was on transfer via Navy MP escort, they must have experienced some kind of accident.

The corpses were severely mauled, apparently torn apart by unidentified wild animals.

The following day we returned to the location to recover the bodies but they were nowhere to be found.

Military authorities have requested that we turn over Koen's body as proof of his death. But due to the circumstances described above, it will be a difficult task to recover the corpse.

I am requesting that this case be temporarily closed until further notice.

15 Chris's Report

Dear Chief,

Below is my account of what led up to the explosion of the mansion:

On July 23rd, S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team, led by Captain Marini, went to investigate the bizarre homicides that occurred in the Arklay Mountains. After contact with team's chopper was lost, S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team, lead by Captain Wesker went in.

We found the remains of Bravo team's helicopter on the ground. After landing we were immediately attacked by bloodthirsty dogs. We later discovered that these dogs were
actually zombie dogs as they did not even feel our gunfire. After Joseph Frost was killed, we were forced to retreat to a nearby mansion.

After further investigating the mansion, we learned that it was actually a secret laboratory of Umbrella Inc..

All researchers were turned into zombies by some type of unknown virus. We also discovered that Umbrella was using that lab as a testing area for new Bio Organic Weapons.

We found the dead bodies of some of the Bravo team members including Enrico Marini, Kenneth Sullivan, Forest Speyer, and Richard Aiken. We believe that those Bio Organic Weapons caused their deaths.

After that we discovered that Captain Wesker was actually working with Umbrella and that both Alpha and Bravo teams were being used as live test subjects for the Bio Organic Weapons. Wesker had betrayed us!

We barely managed to survive that nightmare. However, since the mansion exploded, there is no evidence to support our claims of Umbrella's secret lab or the Bio Organic Weapons.

The zombie phenomenon that has been occurring in the city is extremely similar to the zombies we saw at the mansion. We suspect that Umbrella is somehow linked to all this.

In order to solve this mystery and put an end to the zombies that are roaming the city, I propose we launch a formal investigation into Umbrella.

Thank you for your attention to this extremely important matter.

Chris Redfield

16 Mother Virus Report

The Mother Virus was first discovered by Ozwell E. Spencer.
And it was him, who founded Umbrella Inc.. As time passed, Spencer's research was succeeded to Dr. J. Marcus. However, Dr. Marcus abused his power and had to be fired.

Following Dr. Marcus came Dr. William Birkin. Dr. Birkin's experiments delivered many outstanding results including the T-virus. It is presumed that that he will be finishing work on the more powerful G-virus in the near future.

Currently, research on the Mother Virus takes place at our laboratories all over the world. In the near future, we hope to discover many new viruses.

Unlock the Submachine Gun:

Beat scenario 2 on normal difficulty in less than 3 hours with an A or B ranking

Unlock infinite Rocket Launcher:

Beat scenario 1 on normal difficulty in less than 2:30 with an A or B ranking

Shoot The Camera

To do this, go to the outside area in the basement where two dogs jump down from the fence. Quickly stand with your back facing the manhole and walk forward until the camera angle changes. Now draw your weapon and shoot. Then, bullet holes will appear on the screen

Secret Photo

In the STARS Office, check Wesker's desk, then continue to check it until right around the 50th time. Take the film to the dark room, and develop it and you will get a secret photo of Rebecca from the first Resident Evil.

Extra Costumes

To get extra costumes for the game, you must first play the game on normal. DO NOT get the extra ammo in the gun-shop or on the bus. When you get to the Police station, near the subway there is a zombie. If you look closely, you will see that it is Brad Vickers, the helicopter pilot from the first one. After killing him, inspect his corpse and you will find a key. This key will unlock a shelf somewhere in the police station that you couldn't before. Inside it are extra costumes for Claire and Leon.

How to get all the Ranks

S Rank: Beat the game in 1:30. Use only One herb. don't use any weapon upgrades, no special weapons (like the R. Launcher) and don't pick a weapon up more than one time, like if you pick up the shot gun from the weapon owner, don't go and get it on the police station.

A Rank: Beat the game under 3:00 and don't use any first aid, no special weapons.

B Rank: Just beat the game under 3:00

C Rank: Finish the game in 5 to 7 hours

D Rank: Beat the game over 7 hours

Extra Ammo

Before you use the custom parts on the VP70(Handgun), Desert Eagle(Magnum) or Shotgun use the remaining ammo in the clip/breech. When you use the custom parts to upgrade the gun it will automatically be fully loaded. This may seem like a small amount of ammo but can go a long way in the harder difficulties were ammo is rarer.

Safe Code:

In the office with the safe that has a combination lock, the combination is 2236.

Easy Gator Battle:

During the A-scenario, when the gator battle begins, run back to a blinking green light with a tank on it, and click it.  The tank will tip onto the middle of the floor, step back from it.  Allow the gator to put the tank in its mouth and fire at it until the tank explodes in the gator's mouth.

Unlimited Ammo on all weapons:

Hold R1 and press Square 10 times. When the code is in effect the aim type (Auto or Manual) will turn red.

Extreme Battle Mode:

Beat both scenarios on Normal difficulty, save a new file, which will come up as "???" and just open that save file.

Unlock Ada Wong for Extreme Battle Mode:

Complete Level 1 with either Leon or Claire.

Unlock Chris Redfield in Extreme Battle Mode:

Complete Level 2 with any character.

alternate versions

The Nintendo 64 version lacked Extreme Battle mode but did contain exclusive content not in any other versions. The intro clip shown before the main menu was altered with new footage replacing both the PlayStation and PC ones. New files were also added called Ex Files which contains many documents revolving Resident Evil 0, 1, 3 and Code: Veronica and other info involving the series. A Violence Control mode was added which allowed you to decrease the game's intensity level as well as a Blood Color mode which changes the enemies blood to either red, green or blue. New hidden costumes were given to both Leon and Claire. A 3rd person controller and Auto-Aim mode and Rumble and Expansion Pack support were added. After completing all four scenarios, a mode called "Randomizer" which misplaces items to different locations to add sentimental replay value and difficulty gets unlocked on the menu. Some other changes like passwords and files have been altered and corrected. Plus, a dead monster from the first Resident Evil has a cameo appearance.

The Demo version of Resident Evil 2 had a few minor differences from the final version:

  • Robert Kendo, the gun shop owner, had a much higher voice than he did in the final version.
  • After leaving the gun shop through the back, you were able to get to the police station directly from that alleyway. In the final version, an ambulance is blocking the way, forcing you to take a detour through the basketball court, through another alleyway, and through a bus.
  • Marvin Branagh, the wounded officer, was not in the Demo.
  • The first floor of the police station (except for the main hall and the first office) had different music. The second floor music also different.
  • The demo version has the S.T.A.R.S office music (from the final version) playing on the second floor instead of what we hear in the final. Ada's appearance closes the demo version of Resident Evil 2 in the S.T.A.R.S. office. In the final, she appears in the garage.

A preliminary version of Biohazard 2 was almost finished but ultimately cropped in favor of the eventually released Biohazard 2, fans call it Biohazard 1.5. This version had Leon in it (slightly different and maybe being an umbrella officer as well) and a young woman named Elza, some characters such as Kendo or Sherry were in it. The music was different, as well as the backgrounds and story. The RPD looked nothing like it does now and indeed looked more like a real police department, with darker backgrounds as well. The monsters and weapons were the same, except for a Zombie Gorilla which appeared, probably as a boss. Since news of this version spread out the fans have campaigned in order to have it released.

Some scenes of violence and gore had to be censored or toned down in the US version. The scenes missing include: Whenever your character was killed by an enemy, there was a cut scene which showed the enemy devouring, or dismembering you, as "You Died" faded over the image. Also, before you meet the first Licker, a dismembered head falls off the ceiling, explaining what happened with the headless corpse on the ground.

Another preliminary edition (one of the first made after "1.5"), featured a slightly more graphic introduction to the "Licker". Before encountering the first Licker, Leon will normally find a body missing a head. However, in this version, when insepecting the puddle of blood further up, the severed head from the body falls from the ceiling, with the Licker following after. Apparently, the severed head was cut out (no pun intended) from all future makes of the game.

Several months after the initial PlayStations version was released, Capcom issued a second release of the game known as the "Dual Shock version". Released to coincide with the release of Sony's Dual Shock controller (hence the title), this version also contained an Arrange Mode with new difficulty levels and a new unlock-able mini-game known as the "Extreme Battle" mode (which became a standard feature for all subsequent releases, excluding the N64 port), in addition to vibration and analog control support.

The original Japanese version (Biohazard 2) and the US version (Resident Evil 2) contained a few subtle differences between the two. The US version contained different item and enemy placement, stronger enemies, a smaller supply of ink ribbons and the option to disable auto-aim (a feature that was not available in the Japanese version). Capcom of Japan considered the US version different enough to be included as a seperate difficulty setting in the Japanese release of the Dual Shock version.

Biohazard 1.5 Facts

Ok... As everybody probably know - the game that now is called Biohazard (Resident evil) 1.5 (or prototype as Capcom have named it) is the original version of Biohazard 2 that was set to be released in March 1997, but this original version of Biohazard 2 was scrapped very near completion - At 70-80 % through production --Why?-- The official word from Capcom stated that it was scrapped because it played to much like the first Biohazard game (Like that should be something bad!) So Capcom started (almost) completely over again and made the BH 2 that we all know and love .... Anyway, this unreleased version had some really cool weapons enemies and scenes that never made it to the "new" version of BH 2.

In BH 1.5 the main characters was: Leon S. Kennedy, basically same guy as in BH 2, the main difference was that Leon already was working in the R.P.D when the virus outbreak occurred.
Elza Walker, a young motorcycle daredevil who had just arrived to Raccoon city, she was replaced by Claire Redfield in BH 2, the main difference between Elza and Claire is that Elza have no connection to Chris Redfield, there of a big difference in the original story of BH 2. One interesting thing with the main characters in BH 1.5 was that they had some animations not include in BH 2.  Both characters hold their guns in a pose ready to fire.

The characters that survived the transition from BH 1.5 to BH 2 was: Sherry Birkin, Anette Birkin, William Birkin (In human and mutated form) Linda (Ada Wong in BH 2).  She probably was a scientist working for Umbrella before it was closed down.  Marvin was Leon's supporting character and was playable instead of Ada Wong in BH 2 (In Elza's scenario Sherry Birkin was playable just like in BH 2).  Irons was a good guy compared to the sinister Police Chief of BH 2, Irons were wounded in BH 1.5 - John (Robert Kendo in BH 2) John was Elzas supporting character and had a much larger role in BH 1.5 then in BH 2. There were one character in BH 1.5 that never made it to the new game - Roy (DJ).
He probably was one of the surviving R.P.D officers, maybe a colleague to Leon - Note that Capcom used Leon's early design of R.P.D uniform for Roy. Ben was the only character that was not in the original game.

In BH 1.5 there were a lot more different enemies than in BH 2. There were more types of zombies.  The fat zombies, skinny zombies, running zombie, crawling zombies - There even were zombies of different sexes and races. In the monster department we have a couple of interesting creatures that never made it to BH 2, first we have the big man-spider monster, which looks like a bigger and more advanced version of the chimeras in BH 1 - The "normal" spiders were also in the game, but they had some new ways to attack that were not found in BH 2, in BH 1.5 they could crawl out of ventilation shafts similar to the way the spiders enter in BH:CV.  Secondly we have the big gorilla look alike monsters.  These came in two versions, the big boss gorillas and the small baby gorillas - Third we have the big crocodile monster.  As you know this monster made it to BH 2, but in BH 1.5 there were two different versions of it, the big one from BH 2 but also small baby crocodiles. William Birkin when mutated also looked a bit different then in BH 2.

There were many weapons in BH 1.5 that unfortunately never made it to BH 2, the best example is the hand-grenades and the different automatic weapons - In BH 1.5 There were different safety west's that you could equip so the enemy attacks made less damage.  The fire resistant west probably were to be used in the fire "inferno" sections of the game, the safety west's also lets you carry more ammo and items. The enemies could rip your clothes so that they looked torn when heavily damaged, and you could get blood stained if you took out a zombie at point-blank range.  The gore level were also higher than in BH 2, the zombies virtually exploded in a rain of blood and guts when being hit by Leon or Elza's powerful weapons.  One of the biggest differences from BH 1.5 to BH 2 is the backgrounds.  They are totally different, more modern looking than the backgrounds in BH 2 - The R.P.D in BH 1.5 looks more like a real police department than the one in BH 2 - The R.P.D jail also looks more like a real jail.
The fact that there actually is zombies in the cells reaching out trying to grab you makes it look like one of the coolest places in BH 1.5. BH 1.5 also seems to have more outdoor scenes like in BH 3 - If you have seen the movies of BH 1.5 you have probably heard that the music also is somewhat different from BH 2, the sound clips in the movies are not very long, but you can still hear that the original music sounded really moody. The story of BH 1.5 was more complicated as it included many more (living) characters than the BH 2 story - As you now can understand, BH 1.5 is almost a totally different game than BH 2.

My conclusion of all this info, from what I have seen and heard of this game, Biohazard 1.5 really looks to good to never see the light of day, and it would be a real shame if Capcom decides not to release this game to the public.

Review #1 (Mine):

Introduction:

After playing around with this game's first half and realized that this game has a story to follow, I was hooked on Resident Evil for life. Just like with the first Resident Evil game, there are two character scenarios, except this game you have to change discs to play a different character. Personally I feel that Resident Evil is much better in creepy looking mansions than out in an urban street. Capcom kept on releasing over and over a version of Resident Evil 2 that was not released the fans called Resident Evil 1.5 showing a much better looking version of the game that what was released. The police station looked more traditional than the final copy, the monsters were more dead-like than in the final copy, and the game's environment was more believable than what was released.

I first played Resident Evil 2 as a short demo that came with Resident Evil Director's Cut, and I wanted to get the main game which was released only 3 weeks after I got Director's Cut version. After playing through the police station, I was hooked on Resident Evil for life. I vowed that any time they release a new Resident Evil, I have to get it and follow up on the next chapter of the story, and here it is 13 years later, I haven't yet gone back on that promise. Although keeping up with Resident Evil over the years isn't easy when you have to buy new system consoles, and the price of the games they make these days ($60 for Resident Evil 5) is real knife to the throat. Not that I'm a total downer, but the price of those games is just outrageous, and because of that I have to invest in games I know I will keep in touch with. Imagine spending $50+ on a game that you won't end up liking? That's money well spent.

Graphics: 5/10:

As far as graphics go for the PS1, and PC version which is the only formats I've played, I'm not going to blow sunshine up anyone's butt. I like the environments from the streets of Raccoon City to the underground Umbrella laboratory. I'm not knocking that down. What I am knocking down is the detailed graphics. You can definitely see the pixels very well, and if there's a character up close and bending an arm or a leg, you can some thing missing. For instance, when you see Claire bending down in front of Sherry, you see part of her knee is missing. As for the PC Premium version goes, I would rate the graphics a 4.7 of 10, because the graphics looked like they overlap each other. The blood stains look like they float lightly off the floor. Now I've played the N64 version on an emulator on my PC, and I don't think it's fair to rate that one, because game emulators very often make the game look like garbage, so I won't even rate the Nintendo 64 version. I also have never played the re-release of the Gamecube version, and if it's anything like Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, I wouldn't invest $30 for that version as long as you have a copy of a previous format. I mean the graphics and overall isn't even that much better to where it'll cost you almost full price for the Gamecube version. I say if you have the PS1 version, just stick to it, it's not worth an extra $30 for the Gamecube version.

Sound 8/10:

The sound effects like the gunshots, walking noises, and enemy noises haven't changed much since Resident Evil 1.  The soundtrack sounds acceptable and it keeps you in suspense.  I liked the one soundtrack from the demo version where you're in the hallways, that got omitted from the final copy.

Story: 9/10:

The game gives you two game discs, one for each character scenario you want to play. I preferred the Leon A, B scenarios. The Claire game is okay, but it seems that while Claire is searching for her long lost brother Chris Redfield, Resident Evil 1, she's got to baby-sit a little girl. The daughter of the man responsible for the creation of the T and G-Virus, William Birkin. Speaking of which, this game explains more about what T-Virus is all about and what the G-Virus is. It's also learned that someone wants a sample of the G-Virus, and sends a spy in to steal it and bring it back. It'll be learned later on who wants Ada Wong to retrieve that G-sample, and it's someone you least expect after playing Resident Evil 1. The part I like about the scenario plays is that you get to play one storyline, then play the same storyline but from the perspective of the other character, visa-versa.

Game Play: 9/10:

The guns have been upgraded. Now you get machine guns with infinite ammo, if you unlock it. The only downside is that your playing character walks like Frankenstein--, stiff. I can only remember the Duel Shock Version, even though I had the standard version at one point. This being my first Duel Shock game play ever, I had to say how neat-o it was when the game gives you the impression that you're feeling the bullets being fired out of your gun, and that you can feel the shocks of what your character feels. Now, unlike in the previous Resident Evil, your weapons can be upgraded if you get the right parts for it, and those upgrades will make the enemy feel it hard. As far as the replay value is, the game gives you a second scenario where you're playing the same storyline as the first (A) scenario character but from the point-of-view as the second; where was he/she while the other was getting his/her butt eaten up alive? Some unlock-ables such as 4th Survivor mini game (HUNK/Tofu having to reach the rooftop of the RPD station with the G-Virus sample) requires you to beat the game 6 time to unlock. So the game has you working it just to see those new and yet short scenarios. Another unlock-able is Extreme Battle Mode. You play this with a choice of four characters: Leon, Claire, Ada or Chris Redfield (Resident Evil 1). The objective is to reach back to the RPD station and collect 4 anti-virus bombs and return to the underground transit train and plan them, and get the hell out.

Fear Factor: 9/10:

Some parts of the game DID give me the creeps.  Remember in the review I made about my personal experience with the Giant Spiders in the first, original, Resident Evil game?  I still haven't gotten over it at this point.  I originally thought that those hairy-legged freaks were just for Resident Evil 1, but that thought ended with I climbed down a ladder to the first sewage disposal area tunnel and saw a half a spider clenching the wall on the left of my screen.  I didn't think of it at first, but when I remembered where I seen that pattern before, I ran like hell back to the kennel.  Just like with the previous Resident Evil, it took me a week to get the courage to go through after studying the spider's movement.  That didn't go that well with me, because when it was on the ceiling, I ran through, not knowing that there was another one those sons of you know down the corridor.  What dirity, cruel trick!  Then the same crap happened later in the sewer tunnels.  It was too much for me to deal with, so I had to get one of those handy-dandy survival hint books so I know what crap to expect before I deal with it.  And it's just the giant spiders I had a major beef with at the time, there were some parts that was very startling.  Take the corridor in the police department after you first meet the Licker, when you make your first return trip through that hallway, a dozen or so hands break through the boarded windows and grab at  your character twice.  No harm if they do grab you.  The same thing happened again later in the same corridor, but in the second scenario, but instead of those zombies grabbing you, they burst through the window when you don't even expect it, and the crashing noise a loud freaky noise.  Another part that scared me was after you deal with the giant spiders in the second sewer tunnel, you have to deal with a super-size alligator.  I didn't give a hoot about the alligator when I was running and waiting for it to put an explosive tank in its mouth, but when the fight was over and you continue to run down the corridor, the camera will have the alligator up close to the screen and that looked ugly.

Conclusion: 9/10

If you loved Resident Evil 1, you will love this game just as much, if not, more.  I got hooked on Resident Evil for my whole life on this game.  It's a definit must buy, but like any video game before you invest in gangster prices like $50, I would rent it first to see if you would make that investment.  I hear about too many people they make the investment and they feel like they shouldn't of, and that's a major waste.

Review #2:

Resident Evil 2 is probably the most ported of the series as it has been on the N64, Playstation and the Gamecube. The game also seems to be the key game that sucked people into the series making them hardcore fans. Resident Evil 2 examines the height of the T-Virus outbreak in Raccoon City. We are introduced to new stars of the series such as Leon S. Kennedy (A rookie to the R.P.D.) and Claire Redfield (The sister of Chris Redfield). The game is also broken into differing scenarios between Claire and Leon each of which depend upon which character is selected in the beginning; the overall story remains the same, but the two characters do encounter different events. This addition to the series is a lot more “open” compared to that of the first Resident Evil as the audience is exposed to many more places aside from just wandering the perimeters of a large mansion; Raccoon City itself is explored as is one of the major Umbrella laboratories.

Graphics

Resident Evil 2, no matter the system, always has the same quality of graphics; it is fairly average when compared to other games done for the Playstation around the same time. The Gamecube version does run a bit more smoothly than the other versions primarily for it utilizing the higher level of technology found within the Gamecube. The environments are nicely done be it the Raccoon City Police Department or the underground Umbrella labs. The FMV’s are average, but still beautifully constructed for their time.

Sound

The save room music for Resident Evil 2 is the most recognized and the most praised. The overall score for the game is indeed one of the better ones as every area has its own unique sound. The voice acting is above average for nearly all of the characters; the voice of Sherry Birkin tends to become a bit grating after a while and does border annoying. The sounds from some of the weapons are a bit sketchy and unrealistic in sound.

Story

Resident Evil 2 follows the incidents in Raccoon City after the T-Virus outbreak from the perspective of two characters, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. By playing as either Leon or Claire, the story behind the outbreak is slowly revealed. We find out even more of the Umbrella Corporation’s true motives as well as the creation of a new virus developed by William Birkin, the G-Virus, whose potential is vast compared to that of the T-Virus. Resident Evil 2’s storyline is one of the more favored as it feels more realistic and holds true to the overall survival horror genre.

Conclusion

Resident Evil 2 is often regarded as a “favorite” in the series among fans. It has a decent replay value primarily due to the different scenarios between Claire and Leon. The game has spectacular character development, and the interaction between our protagonists and other characters in the game further deepens the story. The story is carefully paced and there is also an “Arranged Mode”, which makes the game rather easy for fans just starting into the series.
